LDF Hartal begins in Kannur
Hartal called separately by the UDF and LDF in the district in protest against the violence Monday has paralised the district Tuesday.
Police have imposed curfew in seven places in view of the violence Sunday.
On Monday, protesting against the attack on CPM leaders at Thaliparamba, opposition Left Democratic Front called for a 12-hour hartal in the district Tuesday, beginning 6 a.m.
CPM district secretary, P Jayarajan, T V Rajesh, MLA and another CPM leader K Balakrishnan, were hospitalised after they were pelted with stones while proceeding in a car to visit party worker, who was hacked and was undergoing treatment, CPM sources said.
Politically sensitive Thaliparambu and surrounding areas have been witnessing clashes between CPM and Muslim League workers over the last few weeks.
